Repair or replace? · Condition first
Many roofs can be repaired. The decision depends on what failed, how much of the roof is affected, whether compatible materials are available and whether a localized repair can restore the system reliably.
Repair is often reasonable when
- A leak is traced to a repairable flashing, vent or penetration detail.
- Only a limited number of shingles are damaged or missing.
- The surrounding roof remains serviceable.
- A durable repair can be made without disturbing a much larger area.
Replacement may make more sense when
- Damage is widespread across multiple roof areas.
- The roof has repeated failures in different locations.
- Materials are too brittle or deteriorated to repair reliably.
- The roof is near the end of its practical service life and repair would only defer a larger failure.
Insurance coverage is a separate decision
If storm damage is involved, Roofing Giant can inspect and document the physical condition and prepare a construction estimate. The insurance company determines whether the loss is covered and what the policy pays. A construction recommendation should not be based on assuming an insurance outcome.
How Roofing Giant evaluates the choice
We photograph the roof, inspect relevant details and explain the condition in writing. If repair is sufficient, we say so. If replacement is the more reliable construction option, we explain why.
