What to do while you arrange help
- Keep people out of the affected area. Stay clear of sagging ceilings, damaged structures and water near lights, outlets or electrical equipment. For immediate danger, leave the area and call emergency services.
- Protect belongings only where it is safe. Move items away from the leak and collect drips if you can do so without going beneath a damaged ceiling. Stay off the roof and do not attempt storm-time tarping.
- Record what you can see. Take photos from inside the home or the ground. Note the time, weather and rooms affected; keep receipts for emergency work.
- Call with the details. Let us know about active water entry, missing roof covering, fallen debris or an unsafe access point so we can assess the request.

Active water entry
A ceiling drip, wet attic or spreading stain may point to damaged shingles, flashing, a roof penetration or another water source. The first task is to locate the entry point.
Exposed roof sections
Missing shingles or storm damage can leave the assembly vulnerable. We assess the exposed area and whether temporary protection can be safely installed.
Loose roofing and storm debris
Lifted roof materials and damaged vents need an inspection. Tree removal, structural hazards or electrical damage may require the appropriate specialist before roof work begins.
Temporary protection and permanent repair
When access and conditions allow, temporary protection may help limit further water entry. It is an interim measure, with its own scope and cost. Weather, roof pitch, access and damage determine which approach is suitable and when work can happen.
A permanent repair follows diagnosis. Depending on the findings, the scope may address shingles, flashing, pipe boots, vents, underlayment or damaged decking. We explain the recommended work and price before you authorize it. If damage is extensive, we will explain why replacement should also be considered.

Does emergency protection finish the repair?
Usually it is an interim step. The underlying entry point and any affected roof components still need assessment and a permanent repair plan.
