GAF shingle roofing system in Frisco

This Frisco residential project shows why a roof replacement involves more than the visible shingles. Roofing Giant’s installation photograph captures the roof while decking and valley details were still exposed.

Roof decking and valley flashing during a Roofing Giant shingle roof installation in Frisco
Frisco project: decking and valley details during installation, March 2018.

A roofing system, layer by layer

The project specifications identify GAF Timberline shingles, Pro-Start starter strips, FeltBuster underlayment and StormGuard leak barrier. These are separate parts of the roof assembly, each addressed in the project’s material scope.

What the installation photograph shows

The March 2018 photograph shows an active installation area with exposed decking and valley flashing. A roof valley carries water where two roof slopes meet, making the condition of its underlying details an important part of the work. This is an installation photograph, taken before the finished roof covering concealed those details.

What to review in your own roof estimate

Ask which shingles, starter materials, underlayment and leak barriers are included. Your written scope should also explain how existing decking and flashing will be evaluated, and how any additional work will be approved. Product names alone do not describe the complete installation.
