What the home needed
The April 2019 project record identified storm-related roof damage, a damaged skylight lens and window screens, with a reported interior ceiling leak. The work required attention to several components rather than shingles alone.
The roofing scope
The roof work order specified tear-off and replacement across 31 roofing squares. The material order listed GAF Timberline HD shingles in Weathered Wood, FeltBuster synthetic underlayment, Pro-Start starter strip and Z-Ridge ridge cap.
The written scope also called for protection at valleys and roof penetrations and renewal of flashing as needed. Those details matter when a project includes a skylight and other interruptions in the roof surface. Our roof system anatomy guide explains how the layers work together.
Gutters, screens and a replacement skylight
The gutter work order covered 345 linear feet of aluminum gutter and downspout, with a separate leaf-guard scope. Three window screens were included in the restoration, along with a fixed VELUX FCM 4646 skylight fitted with solar-powered room-darkening blinds.
The photographs show the original skylight and the replacement set into the shingle roof. Coordinating the roof and skylight work let the project address both the covering and the surrounding details.
Completion and a return project
The 2019 job was marked completed in July. The same homeowner returned for another roofing project in 2023; the later material order again listed GAF shingles, and that file closed in January 2024. These dates describe this project’s history, not a standard installation schedule.
What this project illustrates
Roof damage can overlap with skylights, gutters and other exterior components. A written scope makes those responsibilities clear. For a similar concern, start with roof leak diagnosis, review our gutter services or explore architectural shingles.
