Roof Repair

Roofing Giant repairs residential and commercial roofs across Dallas-Fort Worth. Not every damaged roof needs replacing – a small leak, a few broken or missing shingles, or a leak around a plumbing penetration can usually be repaired. We inspect first, show you what we found, and tell you honestly which option makes sense.

Common problems we repair

Missing shingles

The most common form of roof damage. Sunlight dries out the edge of a shingle until it lifts, and wind then catches it and tears it from the roof.

Granule loss

Sunlight dries the upper part of the shingle and it sheds its granules, exposing the fiberglass underneath. Once that layer is exposed the shingle needs replacing.

Leaks around penetrations

Pipes, vents and flashing are where water most often finds a way in. These leaks are usually repairable without touching the rest of the roof.

Storm and hail damage

Hail strikes the roof with the full force of the impact from above. Damage ranges from bruised shingles to sections that need rebuilding.

Wind damage

High winds lift and tear shingles, and can drive rain underneath the ones that remain.

Interior leaks

Water staining or discoloration in the attic, or on ceilings in the rooms directly below the roof, usually means water is already getting in.

Signs your roof needs attention

  • Shingles that are missing, lifted or curling at the edges
  • Bare patches where the granules have worn away and the fiberglass shows through
  • Damp patches, staining or discoloration in the attic or on upstairs ceilings
  • Debris from the roof in gutters and downspouts
  • Damage you can see from the ground after a storm

Early autumn and late summer are good times to look, while there is still enough daylight and enough of the year left to get repairs done before winter weather arrives. You can check a lot yourself with a pair of binoculars and a look in the attic – but if you suspect a problem, have it inspected properly. A professional has the safety equipment and the experience to spot what is easy to miss from the ground.

Repair or replace?

A roof can usually be repaired as long as it has not taken significant wind or hail damage. Small leaks, broken or missing shingles and leaks around plumbing pipes are all normally repairable.

Where recent hail or wind damage is significant, a full replacement may be the better answer – and after a severe storm a roof can need rebuilding outright. We will tell you which situation you are in after we have looked at the roof, not before.

Storm and insurance work

If the damage came from a storm, photograph it. Pictures of the damage are useful evidence to give your insurance agent when a claim is being assessed. Roofing Giant documents everything we find during the inspection and provides a written report with photographs that you can keep or forward to your insurer.

We work with homeowners through the insurance restoration process from the first inspection onward. You can read more about how that works on our insurance restoration page, or see our insurance claims assistance.
