Visit Project Site
Be present on the job site on the project day . Make sure subs have everything and perform according to the standards. Talk to the homeowner and make sure they are happy with how the project goes. Let them know that you will be around if they need anything. It is a great time to knock on the neighbors’ doors and let them know that their neighbor is getting a free new roof :). Ask if they would like to get one too. 🙂
Use Checklist for the Day of Installation
Before Installation
1. Photograph
- perimeter of house
- driveways and concrete areas (especially pre-existing cracks)
- carports for pre-existing damage
- fences near driveway for pre-existing damage
- everything with the pre-existing damage
2. Make sure flower and plants are moved out or covered
3. Ensure that all exposed nails on the deck are removed or nailed down and the deck has been blown off or swept of all debris
4. Make sure our yard sign is in place and is well visible to the passing traffic
5. Make sure Subcontractors
- signed the agreement
- have all the needed material
- wear safety jackets (not required yet)
During installation
- Cover and protect any bushes that may be hit with falling debris
- Cover and protect the AC condenser from falling debris
- Make sure patio furniture is safe
- Ensure felt is installed with no wrinkles
- Make sure that starter strip is installed
- Ensure drip edge is installed (if replacement was necessary)
- Ensure valley metal or Ice and Water is installed (if replacement was necessary)
- Ensure that shingles are installed straight and have 4-6 nails
- Make sure nails are not driven through the shingle
After Installation
Use Final Inspection Checklist
After all work has been completed notify the homeowner that our office will send the final invoice to the insurance company and insurance company will send the final payment. Ask the homeowner to let you know when the check arrives so you could go do the Final Inspection and receive the final payment.
